Kentucky STUNT Sweeps Doubleheader on Sunday
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky STUNT team swept a doubleheader, winning two games in vastly different fashions on Sunday at Alma College in Michigan. Kentucky (6-0) blanked Central Michigan 24-0 before winning a hard-fought game against Alma, 17-15.
In the first game of the day, Kentucky earned the fourth perfect game in school history, winning all 24 points in the win over Central Michigan. It was UK’s second perfect game of the season, following last week’s perfect effort over UT Martin. The Cats also earned perfect games against UT Martin last season and against Tiffin in 2023.
In game two, Kentucky found itself behind for the first time this season, as Alma claimed the first two points of quarter one, partner stunts. UK would fight back but Alma led 3-2 after one quarter.
Quarter two, pyramids and tosses, saw Alma claim the first point and UK win the second. The teams tied on the final two routines and Alma held a 6-5 lead at halftime.
Kentucky caught up in the third quarter, jumps and tumbling. The Cats won the first point to tie the game. The teams tied the second routine and Kentucky took the lead by winning the third routine. However, Alma won the final point of the quarter and the teams were tied 8-8 heading into the final stanza.
In the fourth quarter, team routine, both teams earned two points on the first routine. In the second routine, UK earned three points to two for Alma and the Cats took a 13-12 lead. The Cats claimed three points on the third routine to just one for Alma, giving UK a 16-13 advantage. Alma claimed two points to UK’s one in the final routine.
Kentucky returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 28 in the Midwest Showdown at Historic Memorial Coliseum. UK will face Purdue Northwest, Michigan State and Missouri Valley in the two-day tournament.
