Big Blue Preview: No. 11/11 Kentucky Women’s Basketball Travels to RV/RV Ole Miss for Monday Meeting

OXFORD, Miss. – The No. 11/11 University of Kentucky women’s basketball program will play at RV/RV Ole Miss on Monday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. ET at the Pavilion at Ole Miss in Oxford, Mississippi.

Big Blue Nation in the area can purchase tickets to the UK-UM game here.

Darren Headrick will have the radio call for UK Sports Network, his eighth straight season as the voice of the Wildcats. His call will be carried on 630 AM WLAP (Lexington) and 790 AM WKRD (Louisville).

Fans also can watch the game on ESPN2, with Eric Frede and Christy Thomaskutty on the call. It is UK’s first game on ESPN2 this season.

The Wildcats enter the game 19-2 on the season, tied with three previous seasons for the best 21-game start in program history (also 1982-83, 2011-12 and 2012-13). The Cats are 8-1 in the Southeastern Conference, while they’re 5-2 in road games. Moreover, the Cats are 4-1 against Associated Press Top 25 opponents and 2-0 against teams receiving votes in 2024-25.

The Wildcats have defeated all six of those ranked or receiving vote opponents by at least nine points.

Kentucky is coming off a pair of back-to-back triumphs over ranked foes, including wins over No. 22/22 Alabama, 65-56, on Jan. 30 at home and No. 13/12 Oklahoma, 95-86, on Feb. 2 on the road. It marked the first time UK has defeated consecutive games against AP ranked opponents during the regular season since 2020-21.

In UK’s most recent game at OU, Georgia Amoore, All-American graduate guard, recorded a school-record-tying 43 points, knocking down seven three-point field goals and adding eight assists. For her efforts, she was named the Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy Player of the Week, Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week and Southeastern Conference Player of the Week.

Moreover, she and Clara Strack hauled in some noteworthy seasonal honors this week.

Amoore was named to a Nancy Lieberman Point Guard of the Year Top 10 Finalist and to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Midseason Watch List, while Strack was named to a Lisa Leslie Center of the Year Top 10 Finalist.

More than midway through league action, Kentucky is fourth in the conference with a two-game lead over Alabama in fifth. The Wildcats still have an opportunity to move up in the league standings, with the top three teams still remaining on their schedule, including South Carolina (10-0), LSU (9-1) and Texas (9-1).

The LSU and the Texas games will be played at home in Historic Memorial Coliseum, while the UK-LSU contest on Sunday, Feb. 23 is sold out. Ticketmaster Verified Resale tickets are still available here.

The Wildcats travel to Oxford after their second bye week, while they are also enjoying a three-game winning streak. Five Cats are averaging double-digit scoring, including Amoore (19.4), Strack (15.5), Dazia Lawrence (13.2), Teonni Key (11.4) and Amelia Hassett (10.4). Strack is leading the team and ranked third in the league with 9.6 rebounds per game.

Amoore, Lawrence and Hassett have all knocked down at least 46 three-point field goals this season, currently just one of two trios in the nation to produce those numbers. Lawrence is leading the conference with a  45.3 percentage from long range.

Kentucky has produced three games this season with at least 14 3-pointers for the first time in program history. In fact, Kentucky has only ever produced as many or more 3-pointers in a game three times total in program history.

The Wildcats are also efficient on defense, holding 15 of their 21 opponents to under 40.0 percent shooting from the field this season, including seven of their nine league opponents. The Rebels are currently averaging 45.0 percent in 2024-25.

This is the 48th all-time meeting between the Wildcats and the Rebels.

Kentucky trails Ole Miss, 28-19, in the all-time series. UK trails UM, 15-8, in Oxford. The Wildcats are on a five-game losing streak against the Rebels. UK hasn’t defeated UM since Feb. 20, 2020 (94-52). That also is the last time UK defeated UM in Oxford.
