Tre’vonn Rybka Named Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bluegrass Ambassador of the Year
Kentucky senior defensive lineman Tre’vonn Rybka has been named the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bluegrass Ambassador of the Year and will be honored at the annual “Big in the Bluegrass” fundraising gala on Saturday, Nov. 9 at Kroger Field.
For more than 100 years, the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. As the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 6 through 18, in communities across the country. They develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.
Rybka, a native of Dickson, Tennessee, served as an intern for BBBSBG in 2024, helping organize several events for the children of central Kentucky, including the Bowl for Kids’ Sake, the organization’s largest peer-to-peer fundraiser. He also helped create the Big Star Bowl, an event where the entire UK football team spent time with kids on the BBBSBG waiting list.
“Tre’vonn has a passion for kids and helping others,” Meredith Watts, the BBBSBG interim president and CEO said. “He has been full of great ideas and ways for others to learn more about our program. He has encouraged his teammates to volunteer and he’s using his platform to get others to sign up to be big brothers and big sisters. Tre’vonn’s influence on our program is just so impactful and he’s such a positive role model for our kids to look up to.”
On the field, Rybka has seen action in 45 career games with 22 starting assignments. He has totaled 85 tackles, 10.0 tackles for loss, six quarterback hurries, four sacks, and a pass breakup during his five seasons as a Wildcat. He has started in all nine games this season and has 24 tackles, 3.5 TFL, 2.0 sacks and two quarterback hurries.
In the classroom, Rybka is on track to graduate in December of ’24 with a degree in community leadership and development.
Rybka is the second straight Wildcat to receive this honor as junior defensive lineman Deone Walker was the first recipient in 2023.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bluegrass currently has 70 kids on their waiting list looking to be matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister. To learn more about becoming a Big or supporting the program, please contact Meredith Watts at MDOWney@bbbs-bluegrass.org.
