Kentucky Takes Runner-Up at 2024 Bettie Lou Evans Invitational

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – The Kentucky women’s golf team took second place at the 2024 Bettie Lou Evans Invitational, hosted at the Champion Trace at Keene Trace Golf Club, as the three-day tournament wrapped up Tuesday afternoon in the Bluegrass.

Kentucky improved its scoring and its positioning in the tournament every day, as it climbed the leaderboard Tuesday from fourth into second place after jumping from eighth into fourth Monday afternoon. UK scored 286 as a team Tuesday, logging a six-stroke difference between Monday’s rounds and Tuesday.

TCU won the tournament with a team score of seven-over-par 871 with Kentucky scoring second place with a 883 (+19). Rounding out the podium was the Houston Cougars who were five shots behind the Wildcats with a team score of 888 (+24).

Elin Pudas Remler, in her college debut tournament, shot a two-under 70 on Tuesday, tying her with teammate Marta Lopez for the co-leader of the day for the Wildcats. Pudas Remler ended up third on the individual leaderboard with an even-par week score of 216. She was one of two Wildcats inside the top five of the individual field as Marta Lopez, who also shot a 70 on Tuesday, ended up fifth, one shot back of Pudas Remler at 217 and one over par.

Lopez’s two-under round of 70 included four birdies with the senior netting three birdies alone on the back nine as she came home in 35. Pudas Remler had four birdies in a seven-hole stretch as she recorded birdies on 5, 7, 9 and 11 on her way to a two-under 70.

Kerryville, Texas, native Raleygh Simpson had two solid 9’s of 37 each, as the true freshman made three birdies on the afternoon, all on par fours with red circles on four, six and 12 in Tuesday’s round. Cathryn Brown went 35/37 for a 72 on Tuesday afternoon, besting her opening two scores of 78 by six shots as she played her best in the final round. Brown birdied six and 15 with bogeys on 12 and 18 for an even par round of 72 Tuesday.

Kentucky will next compete Friday Sept. 20 through Sunday, Sept. 22 at the Mason Rudolph Invitational hosted by Vanderbilt University at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tennessee.
