Jordan Obi, Dominika Paurová Sustain Lower Leg Injuries

LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky women’s basketball graduate guard Jordan Obi and sophomore guard Dominika Paurová have sustained lower leg injuries and are out indefinitely.

The Wildcats will tip off their 51st season of varsity status in 2024-25, as head coach Kenny Brooks has pieced together an experienced staff and a dynamic roster for his first season at the helm of the program.

Big Blue Nation is encouraged to place a deposit to secure their place in line for season tickets. Those who make deposits will be contacted to choose their seats, while the home schedule will be released soon.

Jordan Obi, a Hartford, Connecticut, native, spent the last four seasons at Penn from 2021-24. In 83 games there, she averaged 13.7 points per game, 7.6 rebounds per game, 1.9 assists per game, 1.0 blocks per game and 0.9 steals per game.

In just three seasons of action at Penn – Ivy League winter sports were canceled her freshman season because of the coronavirus outbreak – she combined for 1,142 points, 88 3-pointers, 631 rebounds, 165 assists, 85 blocks and 72 steals. She was the 25th player in program history to eclipse 1,000 career points and became the seventh fastest to do so in just 74 games.

Obi is coming off her most productive season yet, so much so the Ivy League named her to its first team for the first time in her college career. As a senior in 2023-24, she averaged 14.7 points per game and a team-high 7.7 rebounds per game, adding 65 assists and a team-high 38 blocks. She shot 43.3 percent from the field (149-344), 38.6 percent from the arc (34-88) and 82.7 percent from the line (81-98).

She scored in double digits in 22 of her 28 games last season, with six of those being double-double games. In a victory at Merrimack on Dec. 8, she played 40 minutes and recorded a career-high 30 points on 11-of-16 from the field. She added 13 rebounds, two steals, an assist and a block in that game.

Obi also was a two-time All-Ivy Second Team selection as a sophomore and junior, averaging 13.3 points and 7.5 rebounds in those two seasons.

Dominika Paurová, a Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic, native, played one season at Oregon State in 2023-24. She played in all 35 games as a freshman, including all four games of Oregon State’s NCAA Tournament Elite Eight run.

During the season, she averaged 5.5 points per game, 2.1 rebounds per game and 1.4 assists per game in 16.4 minutes per game. She shot 48.0 percent from the field and 37.2 percent from the arc, knocking down 16 triples in 2023-24.

In her college debut, she recorded 13 points, five rebounds, three steals, an assist and a block to send Oregon State past Arkansas Pine Bluff on Nov. 6. She would go on to score in double digits in seven games last season, including a career-high 17 points in the NCAA Tournament First Round against Eastern Michigan. She hit three 3-pointers in that game.

Paurová also played on the Czech Republic U14, U15, U18, U19 and U20 teams from 2018-23. She also made the Czech Senior National team for FIBA Women’s Eurobasket qualifying.

She helped the U20 team reach the FIBA European Championships Division A title game in 2022. On that team, she put up 9.9 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per game, as one of the youngest players in the entire field. On the U18 team, she was considered a most valuable player candidate at the FIBA European Championship in 2022, averaging 14.7 points per game and 9.3 rebounds per game at the tournament.

As a senior in high school, Paurová helped DME Academy to the Sunshine Independent Athletic Association State Championship. She averaged 11.5 points per game, 5.0 rebounds per game and 2.2 steals per game at DME in 2022-23.
