Kentucky Track & Field Garners Multiple USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The University of Kentucky Track and Field programs earned a total of eight honors on the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s (USTFCCCA) annual all-academic awards listing, the organization announced Monday afternoon.

Both the Kentucky men’s and women’s programs were named All-Academic teams for their cumulative efforts in the classroom. To qualify for the laurel, competing athletes on the institution’s NCAA Squad List must hold a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. The Women’s squad hold a 3.3 cumulative GPA, while the Men boast a 3.1 cumulative GPA. In the Lonnie Greene era, Kentucky Track and Field has been named an All-Academic Women’s team in every season and an All-Academic Men’s team in every season except 2019.

Six individuals from UKTF were also named All-Academic Athletes, including five recipients from the women’s team. Qualified athletes must hold at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale, have completed at least two semesters or three quarters at the nominating institution, and finished the 2024 indoor season ranked in the top 96 of a championship individual event of in the top 48 of a championship relay event AND participated in any round of the 2024 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Honored student-athletes from Kentucky included:

Men

Keaton Daniel – Business

Women

Kaitlyn Cain – Human Health Sciences

Alysia Johnson – Pre-Communication

Oneika McAnnuff – Undecided

Kate Powers – Undecided

Emmi Scales – Journalism

This is Johnson’s third All-Academic Athlete honor from the USTFCCCA and first as a Wildcat, previously earning the award in 2021 and 2023 while at South Carolina. 2024 marks the first All-Academic Athlete honor for Cain, Daniel, McAnnuff, Powers, and Scales.

Recognizing more than the 2023-24 academic year, USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams and Athletes are honored on the basis of cumulative GPA, taking into account the entire body of collegiate coursework completed by participating student-athletes, regardless of term or year.
