Daniel Roberts Secures Spot on Team USA on Day Six of U.S. Olympic Trials
EUGENE, Ore. – Daniel Roberts (’19) punched his ticket to Paris this evening as the Kentucky track & field program and its alumni concluded night six at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Eugene, Oregon.
Roberts joins Team USA after securing bronze in the men’s 110-meter hurdles this evening running a personal best time of 12.96 to clinch the final automatic spot to Paris. The Atlanta native will participate in the second Olympics of his career after making his debut in Tokyo in 2021 where he finished ninth. He joins UKTF alumnae Alexis Holmes (’22) and volunteer coach Devynne Charlton who qualified for the Olympics earlier this week.
Alumnae Masai Russell (’23) and Keni Harrison (’15) opened the night with automatic qualifiers in the women’s 100-meter hurdles. Russell won the first rounds overall with a personal best time of 12.35 while Harrison won her heat, finishing fourth overall with a season best time of 12.49.
Alumna Abby Steiner (’22) advanced to the women’s 200 meter final this evening after running a season-best 22.03 to finish fourth overall. She will attempt to join Roberts and others on Team USA tomorrow evening.
Day seven of the U.S. Olympic Team Trials will start at 7:30 p.m. ET tomorrow night beginning with alumnus Andrew Evans (’14) in the discus throw final.
