UK Athletics x AAPI Heritage Month 2024
To celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, the University of Kentucky Athletics Department honored three alumni and highlighted their accomplishments from their time at UK.
Larry Warford played football for UK from 2009-2012. He then played in the NFL for seven years and was inducted into the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame.
Joesphine Chang was a member of the UK Women’s Golf team before graduating summa cum laude in 2021. Chang’s athletic and academic achievements and community involvement were celebrated with her induction to the Frank G. Ham society of Character in 2021.
Tamaka Takagi played tennis at UK from 1984-87. During her career, she was on the All-SEC team three times for singles play. Takagi was also All-American two years in a row with Sonia Hahn, her doubles partner.
