Men’s Golf Set for Final Regular Season Event
FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The regular season comes to a close for Kentucky men’s golf this weekend as the Wildcats prepare for play at the 2024 Mason Rudolph Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends-South Course (par 71, 7112 yards) this Friday through Sunday.
UK is set to make its return to the event for the first time since 2019 when they tied for fourth. The team is coming off a 12th place showing at the Hootie at Bulls Bay in its last event, ending the 54-hole tournament at 17-over par.
Graduate Alex Goff continues to lead the Cats with a 69.91 scoring average this season, on pace to be the best mark in program history. Goff has placed inside the top-15 in 10-straight events dating back to last spring and has finished at par-or-better in 15 consecutive starts.
Jansen Preston will hold down the No. 2 spot in the lineup for the Cats as the junior transfer makes his ninth start of the 2023-24 season. Preston’s spring scoring average of 72.50 ranks second on the roster, as do his eight rounds this year at even-par or better.
Oakley Gee and Campbell Kremer will also tee it up this weekend after both placed T-55 in the Hootie at Bulls Bay at 7-over par. Freshman Michael Hake will get the nod at No. 5 for the second-straight event, while sophomore Kevin Watts will compete as an individual for UK.
Three top-10 teams, all out of the Southeastern Conference, headline the field with No. 3 Vanderbilt, No. 5 Ole Miss and No. 10 Alabama all slated to compete.
