Kentucky Swimming to Send 23 to the CSCAA National Invitational Championship
OCALA, Fl – Competing at the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) National Invitational Championship for the first time, the Kentucky Wildcats will send 23 athletes to the College Swimming and diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) National Invitational Championship in Ocala, Fl. at the Florida Aquatics Swimming and Training facility on March 14-16.
The men’s team will send Freshmen Aaron Gasiewicz, Lance Johnson, Joshua Fisher, Josh Fujimoto, and Bradley Boyd. Sophomores Drew Johnson, JT Broome, Logan Ingerick and Sean Mackey will also be swimming, alongside juniors Jackson Mussler and Jack Hamilton.
On the women’s side, Torie Buerger is the lone senior attending the championship. Juniors Maddie Welborn, Caroline Benda and Olivia Mendenhall are also set to compete in addition to sophomore Denise Phelan. Seven freshmen, Lily DeLong, Libby Grether, Madi McGlothen, Marie Belli, Megan Hutchins, Lauren West and Paige Housman, will swim in the national invite as well.
The National Invitational Championship provides a postseason championship event for swimmers and divers that have earned NCAA B-Cuts or Zone standards, but are not selected for the NCAA Championships.
Individuals and relays may qualify for the CSCAA National Invitational Championship by winning their respective event(s) at a bona-fide collegiate conference championship. In addition, any individual or relay team who equals or surpasses the CSCAA ‘A’ standard during the qualifying period shall be eligible to compete at the Championship.
