UKTF Representatives Take Home Three Medals at World Athletics Indoor Championships

GLASGOW, Scotland — Volunteer Coach Devynne Charlton, who trains directly under Kentucky Track & Field Director and Head Coach Lonnie Greene, took home gold in the 60-meter hurdles while UKTF alum Alexis Holmes earned two medals at the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships this past weekend.

Charlton, who broke her 60-meter hurdles world record twice already this season, broke it once again in astonishing fashion after running a time of 7.65 to win the title this afternoon. She has now run times of 7.68, 7.67, and 7.65 this season, accounting for three of the six sub-7.70s ever recorded in history. Additionally, she also becomes the first-ever woman from the Bahamas to secure a World Athletics Indoor 60-meter hurdles championship.

Charlton ran a 7.93, the fastest time in her heat to earn the automatic qualifier to the semi-final where she ran a 7.72, once again winning her heat to advance to the final. UKTF alum Masai Russell finished fourth in the final in her World Athletics Indoor Championships debut.

Alexis Holmes ran a personal best time of 50.24 in the 400 meters to secure a bronze medal for Team USA on Saturday. She earned the automatic qualifier in both heats of the opening round and semi-final to book her spot in the final.

She went on to earn her second medal of the competition in the women’s 4×400 meter relay helping Team USA to a second-place finish with a time of 3:25.34.
