Kentucky Returns Home to Face Western Kentucky

by UK ACPR

The Kentucky baseball team returns home Tuesday to host Western Kentucky in a matchup of two six-win teams. First pitch is at 4 p.m. ET at Kentucky Proud Park and will stream on SECN+.

UK is coming home to host 13 of its next 14 games after being road warriors for the first two weeks. The Cats (6-1) went 2-1 at the Karbach Round Rock Classic over the weekend, rebounding to win a pair of games after dropping the opener to Washington State. Infielders Mitchell Daly and Emilien Pitre both were named to the all-tournament team.

UK’s offense sputtered in the opener but scored 19 runs the last two games and 32 in four games last week. On the mound, UK pitchers limited big innings and reliever Evan Byers pitched in three of four games on the week, not allowing a run in 6.0 innings pitched.

A year ago, Western and UK played a wild classic in Bowling Green that saw former Hilltopper Jackson Gray hit a grand slam to power the Cats after overcoming an early deficit. UK coach Nick Mingione is 8-1 versus WKU in his tenure.
