Wildcats Ready For SEC Indoor Championships
LEXINGTON, Ky. — The University of Kentucky track and field program will return to Fayetteville, Arkansas this week for the Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships hosted by the University of Arkansas.
The competition begins on Friday, February 23rd at 1:15 p.m. ET with the women’s pentathlon 60-meter hurdles.
Friday’s competition will consist of track prelims, some field events including men’s and women’s pole vault, weight throw, and long jump finals, and the women’s pentathlon. The track will only see two running finals on Friday, the men’s and women’s 5000 meters and distance medley relays.
Saturday’s events begin at 3:15 p.m. ET with the men’s and women’s high jump final. Other finals include the men’s and women’s shot put and triple jump final.
On the track, running events will begin with men’s and women’s mile run final at 5:05 p.m. ET. Other running finals include the 60-meter dash, 400 meters, 800 meters, 60-meter hurdles, 200 meters, 3,000 meters and 4×400 meters relay.

The Wildcats collected nine medals at last year’s championships as both the men’s and women’s squads finished seventh overall.
Throughout the indoor season, the Wildcats racked up nine records including two freshman records. Kentucky also had 37 event wins with 76 personal bests after seven meets.
Championship Outlook
The 2024 DI men’s and women’s indoor track and field selections will be from qualifying performances from Friday, Dec. 1 to Sunday, Feb. 25. Feb. 25 is the last date a qualifying performance may be achieved, except for conference championships. Monday, Feb. 26 will mark the last date a qualifying performance may be achieved for conference championships. The final list of meet participants will be available on Tuesday, Feb. 27. On Wednesday, March 6, the final championships start lists will be posted on the NCAA website. The Wildcats currently have four student-athletes in five events who would qualify for the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships after seven meets this season by qualifying as one of the top 16 individuals or as a member of a top-12 relay team in the country during the indoor season.
