Wildcats, Aggies Square Off in Play4Kay Game at Rupp Arena on Sunday

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s basketball program will play host to Texas A&M on Sunday, Feb. 11 at 4 p.m. ET at Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center. It will mark the program’s annual Play4Kay game, as fans are encouraged to wear pink and will also receive a free pink pom-pom at the door. 

The game will be broadcast on SEC Network, with Branda VanLengen and Sheryl Swoopes on the call. Big Blue Nation also can listen in to the play-by-play on UK Sports Network and / or 630 AM WLAP (locally), with the Voice of the Wildcats, Darren Headrick on the mic.

The Wildcats sport a 9-14 record, including a 9-4 record in home games and a 2-7 record in Southeastern Conference games. The Cats are averaging 66.3 points per game, with three players averaging double-digit scoring, including Ajae Petty (14.7), Maddie Scherr (13.6) and Saniah Tyler (10.0). Eniya Russell, who is averaging 15.0 points per game over the last five games, is close behind on the season with 9.7.

Petty, a senior from Baltimore, Maryland, is coming off a 25-point performance at Georgia on Feb. 4. It marked just her second 25+ point performance of the season, but her sixth 20+ point game and her 17th 10+ point game in 2023-24. She also is leading UK in rebounds, grabbing 10.7 boards per game. Petty is ranked in the top three in the league in numerous categories, including second in field-goal percentage (54.0) and third in rebounds (245). She also is just one of four players in the league and one of 20 players in the country to have at least 12 double-doubles so far on the season.

The Wildcats have had good minutes from the bench of recent, too, averaging 32.0 bench points per game over the last four games. Their 20.1 bench points per game on the season is listed fifth in the SEC. Both Tyler (10.0) and Russell (9.7) have come off the bench for most of the season. Meanwhile, Cassidy Rowe, a sophomore from Virgie, Kentucky, who also recently has come off the bench, is leading the team and ranks near the top of the league in charges drawn (18).

Kentucky will look for its first win over Texas A&M, and its first win at home over TAMU, since Jan. 16, 2020. The Wildcats trail the Aggies in the all-time series, 5-9, and in Lexington, 4-2.

Texas A&M is coming off a road win at Ole Miss, 72-53, last Thursday. The Aggies are 16-6 on the season, including 4-4 in road games and 4-5 in the league. They’re putting up 71.5 points per game, but holding their opponents to just 56.0. Four Aggies are averaging double-digit scoring, including Endyia Rogers (12.7), Aicha Coulibaly (12.0), Janiah Barker (11.8) and Lauren Ware (10.8). Ware is also pacing the team in rebounds (8.7).

  • Dance Day: The University of Kentucky dance team will teach a dance to young girls, and they will perform that dance together at halftime.

FAN PARKING

Big Blue Nation may park in the High Street lots beginning three hours prior to the tip time, with free parking provided to all fans attending the women’s basketball game.
