Kentucky Track & Field Sees Four New Personal Bests On Friday

BOSTON, Ma., and CLEMSON, S.C. — The University of Kentucky track and field program completed day one of the David Hemery Valentine Invitational and the Tiger Paw Invite today.

The Wildcats recorded five top-10 finishes with two finishes in the top three. There were also four new personal bests set today.

Kentucky will conclude both meets tomorrow starting at 9 a.m. ET.

SPRINTS & HURDLES

60-METER HURDLES

WOMEN – Freshman Emmi Scales and junior Alexis Glasco qualified on time for the semifinal round. Scales finished 11th overall with a time of 8.32 while Glasco finished 14th overall with a time of 8.33.

The pair swapped finishing positions in the semifinals with Glasco placing 11th overall with a time of 8.25 which tied for 10th on the UK all-time performers list. Scales was 14th with a time of 8.29. The pair did not advance to the final.

60-METER DASH

WOMEN – Junior Victoria Perrow qualified on time to the semifinals placing ninth overall with a time of 7.34. She advanced to the final after finishing eighth overall in the semis with a time of 7.28.

60-METER DASH

WOMEN – Junior Victoria Perrow finished third overall with a time of 7.31. This marks her third top-three finish in the event this season.

400M

WOMEN – Senior Mahogany Mobley set a new indoor personal best of 56.82 to finish 62nd overall.

MEN – Sophomore Brandon Nyandoro set a new personal best of 48.07 to finish 46th overall.

WOMEN – Junior Mollie Roden set a new personal best of 9:56.76 to place 24th overall.

JUMPS

POLE VAULT

WOMEN – Junior Payton Phillips took third overall with a clearance of 13’11.25”/4.25 meters. It marks her third top-three finish in the event this season.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Cain tied for sixth overall and set a new personal best of 13’5.25”/4.10 meters. It marks the fourth straight meet the Wildcat has set a new best this season.

THROWS

WEIGHT THROW

WOMEN – Freshman Kate Powers and senior Simi Akinrinsola finished sixth and seventh in the event with Powers tying her freshman record mark of 65’8.25”/20.02 meters. Akinrinsola threw a mark of 65’7”/19.99 meters. The throwing tandem has yet to place outside of the top 10 so far this season.

MEN – Senior Dennis Ohene-Adu secured a third-place finish with a throw of 68’7”/20.90 meters, just shy of his school record mark of 68’10”/20.98 meters he recorded earlier this season. This marks his fifth top-five finish in the event this season.
