Blue Tops White in Kentucky STUNT Scrimmage on Saturday
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Blue team topped the White team 15-11 on Saturday in the Kentucky STUNT Blue-White game at Frederick Douglass High School in Lexington.
The scrimmage was played in a modified format, with only three routines in each quarter. The Blue team took the first point of the game, and the teams tied the other two points in the first period. The Blue team led 3-2 after one quarter.
In period two, the Blue team again won the first point. The teams tied on the second routine, and the White team won the final point. However, the Blue led 5-4 at halftime.
In period three, the game remained close. The teams tied the first point of the quarter before the Blue team took the second point. A tie on the final point made it 8-6 in favor of the Blue team after three quarters.
In the fourth quarter, where three points are available to each team on each routine, the teams each earned two points on the first routine, making the score 10-8 in favor of the Blue team. On the second routine, the Blue team won two points to the White team’s one, giving the Blue team a 12-9 advantage. On the final routine, the teams tied two points, with the Blue team winning one to provide the final margin of victory.
UK head coach Blair Bergmann thought his team got a lot out of Saturday’s event.
“I think we had a great scrimmage,” Bergmann said. “I think it was a great event from start to finish. We had good energy from both teams.”
Bergmann knows that the team still has some improvements to make before the regular season begins.
“Team chemistry is coming along,” Bergmann said. “We still have some areas we need to clean up. But overall, I think we’re in a good spot.”
Kentucky begins its regular season on Feb. 3 against Alma and Ashland at the Clive M. Beck Center on the campus of Transylvania University.
