Men’s Soccer Welcomes South Carolina to Begin Sun Belt Play
LEXINGTON, Ky. – No. 24 Kentucky men’s soccer (3-2-0) will host South Carolina (1-3-1) to begin Sun Belt Conference play at the Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex on Friday. The match dubbed as the “Unofficial Southeastern Conference Championship” will kick off at 7:30 p.m. EST.
The Wildcats and Gamecocks first faced off in November 1991 which resulted in a 6-0 victory for USC. Since then, the two programs have developed a 12-7-4 UK all-time series record.
Kentucky and South Carolina last faced off in 2022 where the Cats came out on top in Columbia, 3-0, to clinch the Sun Belt Conference regular-season title. The two programs battled again in the first round of the conference tournament in Lexington, 2-1.
The Wildcats come into Friday’s contest after a 3-2 victory at home against Lipscomb last week.
South Carolina enters the match with a win against Queens University Charlotte and losses to Clemson, Gardner-Webb, and UNCW. The Gamecocks have also tallied one draw with Campbell.
The theme for the match is “Flashback Friday,” which will feature a giveaway for an Xbox Series X and FIFA games. A QR code will be available upon entry to enter the contest.
