Women’s Tennis Travels to Purdue for Friday Match
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky women’s tennis (4-3) will travel to West Lafayette, Ind. on Friday to take on the Purdue Boilermakers (7-0) for a 3 p.m. EST matchup at the Schwartz Tennis Center.
The Wildcats are looking for road redemption following a tough 1-4 defeat against Penn State last weekend.
Kentucky started the match strong claiming wins at No. 2 and No. 3 Doubles to take the opening point of the contest. However, in a tightly contested match that lasted nearly four hours, the Wildcats and Nittany Lions battled in close singles contests, but decisive three-set Penn State victories sealed the win for the home team.
Purdue is 7-0 so far on the spring season and is coming off a 5-2 home victory over Xavier last weekend.
The Cats and Boilermakers hold a 5-3 all-time series record which started in 1999. The two teams last went head-to-head in 2012 which resulted in a Wildcat 6-1 win in Lexington.
