LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Southeastern Conference has named 15 Wildcats from Kentucky track & field to All-SEC teams after a successful 2022 SEC Championships for the Wildcats.

Three Wildcats are first team All-SEC, 10 are second team All-SEC and two are freshman All-SEC.

First team All-SEC is awarded to those who won gold medals at SEC Championships while second team All-SEC is awarded to those who won silver and bronze medals. Freshman All-SEC is awarded to the top freshman finisher in each event at SEC Championships.

Kentucky’s three first team All-SEC student-athletes are Abby Steiner, Alexis Holmes and Lance Lang, all of whom recently won gold medals at SEC Championships.

Kentucky’s combined two silver medalists and eight bronze medalists are all second team All-SEC, including Karimah Davis, Masai Russell, Megan Moss, Jenna Gearing, Tori Herman, Bryanna Lucas, Matt Peare, Brian Faust, Dwight St. Hillaire and Kennedy Lightner.

Luke Brown and Leah Moore were named to the All-SEC freshman team for their finishes in the triple jump and weight throw respectively.

First Team All-SEC Honorees

The most notable first team All-SEC honoree is Steiner. She wowed the world on February 26 when she ran the fastest indoor 200m in American history and second fastest in world history at 22.09 seconds to earn her the SEC gold. This was her third year in a row winning the 200m SEC gold medal and third time breaking the collegiate record.

In addition to her 200m gold, Steiner also won bronze in the 60m with a time of 7.19 and was a member of the bronze medal-winning 4x400m relay (3:25.89) that ran under the previous collegiate record.

Holmes ran an impressive 50.77 to win the 400m gold for Kentucky. Her time was a personal best, the current collegiate leading time, and the third fastest time in the world this season.

Holmes previously won gold in the 400m at 2020 SEC Championships, and therefore has won the SEC title in the event both times she has competed at the meet. Alongside Steiner, Holmes was also a member of the bronze 4x400m relay.

Lang won his third and fourth career individual SEC Indoor Championship medals this past weekend, winning the 200m title with a school record time of 20.32 and earning bronze in the 60m with a time of 6.69. Lang was also a member of UKTF’s bronze medal 4x400m relay (3:04.04), the second fastest relay in Kentucky history.

Lang was the second-highest individual male scorer of SEC Championships with his three medals, totaling 17.5 points.

Second Team All-SEC Honorees

Kentucky’s two silver medalists, Peare and Herman, lead the way for the Wildcats on the All-SEC second team.

Peare won his third SEC medal with a second-place finish in the pole vault (17’3″/5.26m). He won gold in 2020 and 2021.

Herman ran for silver in the 3000m (9:00.60), which was her first SEC medal.

Davis, Russell and Lightner won individual bronze medals for the Wildcats.

Davis ran a personal best 22.79 for bronze in the 200m, and now ranks fifth in the NCAA this season in the event.

Russell earned her first individual SEC indoor medal with a third-place finish in the 60m hurdles (7.95).

Lightner did the same, earning bronze in the 200m with a time of 20.60.

UKTF’s two 4x400m relays and the women’s DMR all earned bronze medals, adding to Kentucky’s All-SEC total.

Faust and St. Hillaire joined Lightner and Lang in the men’s 4x400m (3:04.04) to earn All-SEC honors. The relay was the second fastest in UKTF history.

Moss was in both the women’s 4x400m with Steiner, Holmes and Davis that got a school record and ran under the previous collegiate record (3:25.89), and the women’s DMR, earning her two bronze medals and second team All-SEC honors.

Gearing, Herman and Lucas joined Moss on the women’s DMR (11:00.18), which was the second fastest in school history.

Freshman All-SEC Honorees

The Wildcats’ stand out freshman Brown earned freshman All-SEC honors for his fourth-place finish (53’1.5″/16.19m) in the triple jump at SEC Championships.

Brown has broken the triple jump school record three times in his first season with Kentucky, with the current record sitting at 53’5″/ from his performance at the Tiger Paw Invitational.

Moore was the top freshman finisher in the women’s weight throw, placing 20th (51’4.25″/15.65m).
