Team Records and Series Notes

  • Kentucky is 9-10, 2-7 in the SEC this season, while Texas A&M is 13-9, 3-7 in the league.   
    • This was the 12th all-time meeting in series history with TAMU holding a 7-5 edge in the series.  
    • The Aggies have won six of the last seven in the series.  
  • Kentucky is in its 48th season with a 872-566 (.607) all-time record.
  • Kyra Elzy is in her second season as the head coach of the Wildcats, holding a 27-18 overall record.
  • Kentucky is 508-182 all-time at home, including a 478-163 record inside Memorial Coliseum.
    • Kyra Elzy is 19-6 in home games and 17-4 inside Memorial Coliseum as a head coach.
  • Kentucky will be back in action Thursday, Feb. 10 vs. No. 1/1 South Carolina inside Memorial Coliseum. The game will tip at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN and the UK Sports Network.  

 
Team Notes

  • Kentucky used the starting combination of senior guards Rhyne Howard and Jazmine Massengill, redshirt junior center Olivia Owens, sophomore forward Treasure Hunt and freshman guard Jada Walker.
    • This is the fourth time that UK has used this starting combination this season, sitting 1-3.
    • Jada Walker scored first for Kentucky in the game. It was the fifth time this season she has scored first.
    • Dre’una Edwards was the first sub for Kentucky. It was the first time she has been the first Wildcat off the bench.
    • Texas A&M won the opening tip. It was the 11th time that UK has lost the opening tip.
      • UK also lost the tip in overtime.
  • Both teams started hot from the field with UK hitting seven of its first nine shots, while TAMU hit four of its first seven.
    • TAMU hit two of its first four from 3, while UK hit each of its first two long-range shots before two misses.
    • Five different Wildcats scored in the first five minutes of the game.
  • Kentucky held a 26-15 lead at the end of the first quarter, marking the second most points in a first quarter this season and the most since 27 vs. La Salle on Nov. 27.
    • UK was 12-of-18 from the field in the first quarter, including 2-of-4 from 3.
    • UK forced TAMU into six first-quarter turnovers and scored seven points off those miscues.
    • UK had a 14-4 edge in paint points in the first quarter.
    • TAMU was 6-of-14 from the field in the first quarter and 2-of-4 from 3.
    • UK ended the first quarter on a 8-0 run.
  • Kentucky started the second quarter 0-of-6 from the field with six turnovers, not scoring until 2:23 left in the second quarter.
    • The Aggies weren’t much better from the field, scoring just five points in the first 7:37 of the second quarter.
  • After 41 combined points in the first quarter, both teams combined for 11 points in the second quarter.
    • UK won the quarter 6-5, ending the half on a 6-0 run after a slow start.
    • UK was 2-of-11 from the field in the second quarter, while TAMU was 2-of-14.
    • UK had eight turnovers in the second quarter, while TAMU had six.
    • At the half, UK 48 percent from the field, while TAMU was 29 percent.
    • TAMU did not score the final 4:50 of the first half.
  • Texas A&M began the second half on a 15-2 run to take a 35-34 lead and erase a 12-point halftime lead in a matter of minutes.
    • UK started the second half 2-of-10 from the field with three turnovers.
    • TAMU started 6-of-10, hitting three 3s in the first five minutes of the quarter.
    •  Jazmine Massengill stopped the bleeding for Kentucky with a layup with just over three minutes to go.
  • The Aggies won the third quarter 19-9.
    • UK shot 4-of-15 from the field in the quarter, while TAMU was 7-of-16.
  • Texas A&M won 18-9 in overtime to seal the win.
  • After nine points off turnovers in the first quarter, UK had just one point off TAMU miscues the final 35 minutes of the game.  
  • UK won the paint points 24-22.
    • It is the first time under Kyra Elzy that UK has lost a game when it scored more points in the paint.
    • UK was 17-0 entering Sunday when it had more paint points.
