Team Records and Series Notes

• Kentucky is in its 48th season with a 863-557 (.607) all-time record.
• This was Kentucky’s lone exhibition game of the season.
• For the 13th time since 2007, UK will begin its season ranked or receiving votes in the national polls as the Associated Press tabbed Kentucky at No. 13 in its preseason poll.
  • This marks the third straight season that Kentucky has started ranked in the top 15 of the AP Top 25.
• Kyra Elzy is in her second season as the head coach of the Wildcats, holding a 18-9 overall record.
  • Elzy is 11-2 at home, including a 9-2 record inside Memorial Coliseum and 2-0 mark inside Rupp Arena.
• UK will officially start the season Tuesday, Nov. 9 against Presbyterian inside Memorial Coliseum at 7 p.m. ET. The game will air on SEC Network+.

 
Team Notes

• Kentucky used the starting combination of senior guards Jazmine Massengill and Rhyne Howard, junior guard Emma King, junior forward Dre’una Edwards and redshirt junior center Olivia Owens.
  • Oliva Owens scored first for Kentucky in the game.
  • Treasure Hunt was the first sub for Kentucky.
  • Kentucky won the opening tip.
• It was a back-and-forth game to start with Kentucky leading 14-12 at the first media timeout.
  • Lee hit five of its first six shots from the field. Fourteen of Kentucky’s first 15 points were in the paint.
• Kentucky came out of the first media timeout and scored seven straight points for a 10-0 run and take a 22-12 lead in the game.
  • UK held Lee scoreless during that stretch and forced four turnovers during that stretch.
  • The Wildcats continued the run to end the first quarter on a 17-0 run and grab a 29-12 lead at the first-quarter break.
• Kentucky hit its last three shots to end the first quarter and were 13-of-25 from the field in the first quarter.
  • Eighteen of Kentucky’s 29 points were scored in the paint in the first quarter.
  • After starting 5-of-6 from the field, the Flames missed five straight shots to end the first quarter.
• Lee ended UK’s 17-0 run with a jumper to start the second quarter.
• UK outscored Lee 27-15 in the second half to grab a 56-27 lead at halftime.
  • UK was 24-of-42 from the field in the first half, while Lee was 11-of-26.
  • After starting 5-of-6 from the field, Lee ended the first half 6-for-20.
  • UK forced Lee into 14 turnovers in the first half, while the Wildcats only had four miscues.
  • Half of Kentucky’s first-half baskets were assisted with UK having 12 first-half assists.
  • The Wildcats were 4-of-11 from long range in the first half and had a 24-11 rebounding edge, including 11-2 on the offensive glass.
  • Kentucky had eight first-half steals.
• Kentucky played nine players in the first half with eight scoring. Three Wildcats were in double figures in Rhyne Howard, Dre’una Edwards and Olivia Owens.
• The two teams played to a 20-20 tie in the third quarter as Lee went 9-of-14 from the field, including 2-of-3 from 3 in the third quarter.
  • Rebounds were also tied 9-9 in the third quarter and Lee had 12 points in the paint after just eight in the first half combined.
• The Wildcats started the fourth quarter on a 10-0 run to take a 39-point lead 86-57.
• Kentucky’s largest lead of the game was its final margin, 95-51.
• Every Kentucky player that played in the game, scored at least four points.
• Kentucky forced Lee into 29 turnovers and scored 32 points off those miscues.
• UK had a 64-24 advantage in paint points, 22-3 advantage in fast-break points and 27-8 advantage in bench points.
• Nearly half of UK’s made baskets in the game were off assists as UK had 19.

 
Player Notes

• Junior guard Rhyne Howard scored 17 points with seven rebounds, four assists, four steals and one block.  

  • For her career, Howard has scored 1,655 career points sitting seventh in UK history in points scored. She needs 37 more to tie Maci Morris for sixth.
  • Howard is the second player in school history to reach 1,500 career points prior to their senior season with the other being All-American and UK all-time leading scorer Valerie Still.
  • Howard ranks second in school history in career scoring average at 19.9, while she is third in career 3s made with 214 and third in career 3-point field-goal percentage at 38.1. She is also eighth in UK history in steals per game at 2.301.
