No. 8 Kentucky Welcomes No. 20 FIU for C-USA Showdown
LEXINGTON, Ky. – After succumbing to inclement weather in its last outing, undefeated No. 8 Kentucky is set to return to Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex for a top-20 Conference USA showdown with No. 20 FIU on Sunday at 6 p.m. ET, live on ESPN+.
The Wildcats enter Sunday with a 7-0-2 record, tied for third place in the C-USA standings at 1-0-2. The Panthers are 7-1-1 overall with sole possession of second place in the league at 2-0.
Kentucky took the pitch with Lipscomb last Wednesday, only for play to be abandoned following a nearly two-hour lightning delay just 22 minutes after kickoff. The Cats’ most recent official contest on Oct. 3 punctuated a perfect 5-0 record at home, earning Kentucky its first conference victory of the season in a 3-1 win over UAB.
FIU is fresh off a 4-0 drumming of C-USA foe Charlotte on Oct. 2, which came directly after a 2-1 win on the road against that same UAB squad on Sept. 25. The Panthers are 3-1-1 away from home this season.
Kentucky has not defeated FIU since a 1-0 decision at home on Nov. 7, 2015, going 0-4-2 in the last six matchups despite winning two C-USA regular season championships and a conference tournament crown over that span. The sides played to a 1-1 draw in Miami last spring.
