UK Women’s Tennis Announces Fall Schedule
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team will compete in four invitationals during the fall to kickstart the 2021-22 season, as announced by head coach Carlos Drada on Monday.
The Wildcats will commence the fall campaign on Oct. 8-10 in Nashville, Tennessee, at the Vanderbilt Invitational before participating in the ITA Regional Championships on Oct. 21-25. Hosted by Middle Tennessee State in Murfreesboro, the ITA tournament will feature some of the top players from across the Ohio Valley region.
Kentucky returns to the Volunteer State once again the following week, traveling to Knoxville to partake in the Tennessee Invitational on Oct. 29-31. UK will then head south to conclude the fall slate at the Miami Invitational on Nov. 4-7 in Miami, Florida.
The 2022 spring schedule will be announced at a later date.
UK returns six players from last year’s roster, including All-American and All-SEC First Team selection Fiona Arrese. The program has also welcomed three newcomers this season in Ellie Eades, Lidia Gonzalez, and Florencia Urrutia.
The Wildcats posted a 16-9 overall mark with a 6-7 record in the Southeastern Conference back in the spring. The season was one for the record books, as Arrese and recent graduate Akvile Paražinskaite earned the No. 1 seed in the doubles draw for the NCAA Championships. The duo were the first Wildcats to be ranked No. 1 since 2016 and the first with Drada at the helm.
