No. 21 Kentucky, Notre Dame to Battle Friday at the Bell

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Coming off its first victory and second shutout of the season, No. 21 Kentucky (1-0-1) is set to host Notre Dame (1-1) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET, live on ESPN+.
 
Friday will mark the Fighting Irish’s first visit to Lexington since 1992, the Wildcats’ second season of varsity competition.
 
Kentucky enters its second non-conference matchup of the year on the heels of a 3-0 victory over Wright State in its home opener last Monday. Reigning All-Conference USA third-team forwards Daniel Evans and Eythor Bjorgolfsson provided the scoring in the win over the Raiders by way of the third brace of the latter’s career.
 
First-year UK goalkeeper Jan Hoffelner earned his second clean sheet in as many starting efforts, facing no shots on goal in the follow-up to his five-save debut at then-No. 25 Coastal Carolina.
 
Notre Dame heads into Friday fresh off its first win in a 2-0 shutout of Northern Illinois last Monday. The Irish fell 3-2 in overtime to No. 2 Indiana on Aug. 27.
 
Kentucky opened the 2020 season with a 1-0 loss in South Bend, Indiana, in the teams’ last meeting. The Cats trail the all-time head-to-head series 3-1, with neither side ever scoring in a loss.
