Kentucky To Host 2021 Bluegrass Battle, Celebrate National Title
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 3 Kentucky Volleyball team will host the 2021 Bluegrass Battle inside Memorial Coliseum this weekend with Creighton, Northern Iowa and Southern California venturing to the bluegrass for the seventh year of this round-robin tournament.
The tournament will have three matches per day, with play beginning at 10:30 a.m. ET followed by matches at 5 and 7:30 p.m. Kentucky will play Northern Iowa in its lone match Friday night at 7:30, and play both Creighton (10:30 a.m.) and USC (7:30 p.m.) on Saturday.
Tickets are required for both 7:30 p.m. matches, with free admission for the 10:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. matches.
Friday night, Kentucky will be unveiling its 2020 NCAA National Championship banner in front of Big Blue Nation before the 7:30 p.m. match. Fans are encouraged to arrive early, as the celebration will begin about 10 minutes prior to scheduled first serve. Southeastern Conference commissioner Greg Sankey, UK President Dr. Eli Capilouto and AD Mitch Barnhart will be part of the ceremonies all evening long.
Kentucky will also be hosting a canned food drive Friday, as UK Athletics will partner with the Big Blue Pantry and Kroger on campus to celebrate National Food Bank Day. Fans will be asked to bring in cans of non-perishable foods to Memorial Coliseum with prizes for those who participate. If fans bring 25 cans or more, they will receive a UK Volleyball t-shirt. The fan who brings the most will receive a free signed volleyball from Craig Skinner.
UK Athletics is excited to announce mobile ticketing for all UK Volleyball matches in 2021. Fans will be able to avoid will call lines, waiting for tickets to arrive in the mail, enjoy quick and contactless entry into venues and easily access and transfer tickets to friends or family, all from your mobile device.
All tickets will be mobile and no physical ticket books will be printed. Season ticket holders and individual game buyers will use the UK Athletics App to access and manage tickets. Football parking passes will also be accessed via mobile delivery. Your phone is now your ticket!
