LEXINGTON, Ky. – After kicking off the regular season on the road last Thursday, No. 14 Kentucky (0-0-1) is set to make its 2021 debut at Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex against Wright State (0-1) on Monday at 7:30 p.m. ET, live on ESPN+.

In their last outing, the Wildcats commenced Conference USA play with a scoreless draw at the conclusion of two overtime periods with No. 25 Coastal Carolina. Graduate transfer Jan Hoffelner made his presence known between the pipes in his UK introduction, notching five saves to go along with his first clean sheet.

Kentucky outshot the Chanticleers 17-10, led by a game-high four attempts from junior forward Eythor Bjorgolfsson. Cameron Wheeler fired three shots, while Bailey Rouse and Enzo Mauriz each tried two. Oliver Juul, Marcel Meinzer, Martin Soereide, Daniel Evans, Mason Visconti and Ben Damge managed one shot apiece.

Juul, a freshman, was accompanied on the UK backline by upperclassmen Robert Screen and Luis Grassow for all 110 minutes of action.

Wright State opened its regular season on the road Thursday, as well. The Raiders fell to Akron by a 7-1 final, the same score by which Kentucky defeated Wright State in the teams’ last meeting on Oct. 30, 2019.
