LEXINGTON, Ky. — University of Kentucky cross country has revealed its schedule for the 2021 season, consisting of four regular season meets and three postseason meets.

The schedule is highlighted by UKXC getting to host the NCAA Southeast Regional meet on November 12, which marks the final meet before NCAA Championships in Tallahassee, Florida at Florida State University on November 20.

The teams will open their season in Columbia, Missouri at the University of Missouri XC Opener on September 3 and will return to the same course for SEC Championships on October 29.

Cross country will also be traveling to Tallahassee on October 15 for Pre-Nationals, getting to compete on the same course they might run at NCAA Championships.

The Wildcats’ two other regular season meets are the Commodore Classic in Nashville, Tennessee on September 17 and the Notre Dame Invitational on October 1 in South Bend, Indiana.

Some notable returners to the team are Jenna Gearing, Tori Herman and Matt Duvall.

Gearing, a graduate transfer from Clemson that arrived in Kentucky for the 2020-21 season, won a silver medal in the women’s 6K at SEC Championships in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Her run earned first-team All-SEC selection. Prior to SEC’s, Gearing placed in the top five at every meet in the 2020 season, including a win at the “Live in Lou” Classic.

Closely following Gearing at SEC Championships was Tori Herman. Now a sophomore, she finished 19th in the 6K and received SEC All-Freshman honors.

On the men’s team, a standout from the 2020 season was Matt Duvall, who finished 15th overall in the 10K.

Alongside Duvall were fellow freshmen Ethan Kern and Harper Moore, following Duvall with 18th and 25th- place finishes, respectively. All three earned SEC All-Freshman honors and Duvall was named SEC Freshman of the Year.
