LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 3 Kentucky Volleyball team travels to Gainesville, Florida this weekend for a top-10 showdown in The Swamp against the No. 7 Florida Gators in a series that will go a long way to determine the champion of the 2020-21 Southeastern Conference volleyball season.
Both games will be streamed on the SEC Network+, ESPN3 and the ESPN app. Friday’s game begins at 1 p.m. ET with Saturday’s series finale commenting from Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center at 4 p.m. ET.
The Wildcats are the only unbeaten team left in the SEC for the season, sitting alone at the top of the standings at 16-0. The Florida Gators are 16-2, as the Wildcats hold a two-game lead over UF in the loss column as the series enters its final stretch. Florida and Kentucky are both undefeated in the spring season so far.
Kentucky has won three in a row over the Gators, and five of the last six dating back to 2016. UK swept the season series a year ago, winning both matches in come-from-behind fashion with fourth and fifth set wins to pick up the season sweep over UF. Kentucky has never won four matches in a row against Florida in program history.
Alli Stumler leads the way offensively for Kentucky averaging over four kills per set, with All-SEC performer Madison Lilley assisting over 12 balls per set on the season. Defensively, it’s been Azhani Tealer at the net with over 1.3 blocks per set and Gabby Curry in the back, who is registering over three digs per set to lead all Wildcat players.
The Gators have won 10 matches in a row this spring, and 11 overall dating back to its last fall match at home against Georgia. The two Gator slip-ups came against South Carolina on the road in Columbia as well as a home defeat in four sets to Georgia.
