Cally Nixon Named SEC Specialist of the Week
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Following a historic first-place routine on uneven parallel bars in No. 14 Kentucky’s 197.100-196.800 upset of No. 2 LSU last week, Kentucky junior Cally Nixon was named Southeastern Conference Specialist of the Week on Tuesday.
Nixon was recognized for her career-high 9.975 bars score that tied eight-time NCAA champion Jenny Hansen for the best mark on the event in program history.
The individual event win was the second of Nixon’s career on bars, as well as her sixth overall event win this season.
The Miami product added routines of 9.900 on vault and 9.700 on balance beam against the Tigers.
Nixon is Kentucky’s third athlete in back-to-back-to-back seasons named SEC Specialist of the Week, following 9.975 vault routines from Katie Stuart and Mollie Korth in 2019 and 2020, respectively.
Kentucky returns to action on the road Friday against No. 18 Georgia at 7 p.m. ET, live on SEC Network Alternate.
