Wildcats to Open SEC Slate with No. 13 Texas A&M, No. 38 LSU

LEXINGTON, Ky. – After opening the spring with a 9-4 record in non-conference play, the Kentucky Wildcats are set to commence Southeastern Conference competition this weekend with a visit to No. 13 Texas A&M (7-3) on Friday at 7 p.m. ET and home bout with No. 38 LSU (8-2) on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Kentucky strung together four consecutive wins before falling 4-2 at then-No. 7 Wake Forest in the season’s initial matchup with a nationally ranked opponent on Jan. 25. A wavering lineup over the next six matches produced a 3-3 record before an 11-day hiatus gave the Cats a chance to regroup and get healthy.

Following the break, UK bounced back to winning form with a 4-1 victory over Memphis and a 7-0 sweep of Kennesaw State last Friday. Junior Millen Hurrion occupied the top singles slot in both contests and moved to 4-0 overall in the position. The former Gardner-Webb transfer is one of four Cats with at least six total wins on the season, led by a 9-3 record from senior César Bourgois.

The Aggies sport a 4-0 record at Mitchell Tennis Center, most recently defeating Rice 7-0 last Friday and Arizona State 5-0 last Sunday. LSU triumphed in its only road test thus far, defeating that same Rice team 4-1 last Sunday.
