UK Sports Video’s Ryan Duffy Recognized at CSMAs
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Yet another member of UK Sports Video’s talented and decorated staff has received national recognition. Ryan Duffy won the Outstanding Special Feature: Collegiate Student category at the 2020 SVG College Sports Media Awards (CSMAs) in association with NACDA.
The video recognized was called “MVP: Most Valuable Punter” and was produced as part of Kentucky football punter Max Duffy’s successful campaign for the Ray Guy Award. The video was produced and edited by Ryan Duffy, with Serena Archer serving as advisor.
“What Ryan has accomplished in a little over a year working in our department is incredible,” Production Coordinator Greg Gorham said. “To win such a prestigious national award is a testament to the hard work and determination, Ryan displays daily. We are incredibly fortunate to have him on our team.”
The CSMAs were presented virtually on Thursday evening. In addition to the winning video, three more UK Sports Video-produced pieces were nominated for awards: “Kentucky Basketball – The Journey” (Michael Tawasha) for Outstanding Program Series: Collegiate Athletics; “Kentucky Football Pre-Louisville Promo” (Archer, Kirk Hanselmann) for Outstanding Short-Form Fan Engagement: Collegiate Athletics; and “Olympic Sports Intro Videos” (Duffy and Jeff Ison) for Outstanding Short-Form Fan Engagement: Collegiate Student.
“Our Sports Video team is an exceptionally talented group that has a knack for doing its best work when it can make the biggest impact,” Executive Associate Athletics Director for Brand & Content Tim Bernal said. “That was true once again with this piece that helped draw the nation’s attention to the incredible season Max Duffy was having. It’s gratifying to see their work recognized at a high level once again.”
Receiving national awards has been the norm for UK Sports Video over the last three seasons. Tawasha and Hanselmann have won Regional Emmys in 2019 and 2018, respectively, and UK Sports Video was twice recognized at the SAVVY Awards presented by the Collegiate Sports Video Association last May. The hype video produced prior to Kentucky football’s game vs. Georgia won Motivational Video of the Year and Christian Fiero, UK’s coaching video coordinator for football, won the prestigious Bob Matey National Video Coordinator of the Year award.
