Ali Galyer: 2020 Tokyo Olympics Postponement

by Cami Moore

The following is a statement from UK swimming and diving’s Ali Galyer on the postponement of the 2020 Olympics:

“The IOC has made the right call to postpone the 2020 Olympics, putting the health and safety of all involved as the top priority. Obviously, this is still an incredibly disappointing time for all athletes that have worked years for their chance to shine on the Olympic stage. Through the uncertainty, you have to be able to adapt to the changes around you, and how you react to those changes is what makes you a better athlete and teammate. Being a Kiwi means you are a part of a family. No matter where you are in the world you are supported to the highest extent, and I couldn’t be prouder of where I come from. It has been my dream since I was a child to wear the Silver Fern at the Olympic Games, and as of now, I plan to train at the University of Kentucky until Tokyo 2021.” – Ali Galyer, Team New Zealand
