Tim Hall Named Finalist for National Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky assistant coach Tim Hall was named a finalist for National Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Friday after a successful indoor season training the Wildcats’ sprinters.
 
Hall was awarded Southeast Region Women’s Indoor Assistant Coach of the Year by the USTFCCCA earlier this month, which was the third time he has won that award with UK (2014, 2019). 
 
Under head coach Lonnie Greene’s direction and Hall’s assistance, Kentucky qualified five women’s team members into the 2020 NCAA Indoor Championships as well as the women’s 4x400m relay team. The Wildcats also had Southeastern Conference gold medalists in Alexis Holmes (400m) and Abby Steiner (200m).
 
Steiner’s 22.57 at the 2020 SEC Indoor Championships broke Sydney McLaughlin’s indoor school record by .11, which was recorded on the same track as Steiner in College Station, Texas. That time is currently the fastest time in the world this season and the 15th best performance in collegiate history.

200m: Abby Steiner (No. 1; 22.57)
400m: Alexis Holmes (No. 5; 52.08), Megan Moss (No. 16; 52.58)
60m Hurdles: Masai Russell (No. 14; 8.11)
4x400m Relay: Kentucky (No. 2; 3:29.74) 
 
This would be the first time a UK assistant coach has won the award and the first national award won by Kentucky since Tim Duckworth was named National Field Athlete of the Year in 2018.
