Mollie Korth Named AAI Award Finalist

LEXINGTON, Ky. – After earning the 80th and 81st event wins of her career last Friday, Kentucky senior Mollie Korth was announced as one of six finalists for the 2020 AAI Award on Wednesday.
 
Presented by American Athletic Inc., the award is annually given to the most outstanding collegiate senior female gymnast in the country.
 
Over the course of her first three seasons, Korth collected eight different All-America distinctions and was designated All-Southeastern Conference at the end of each year. She was also dubbed the SEC Freshman of the Year in 2017.
 
This season, the native of Cambridge, Wisconsin, was named SEC Gymnast of the Week on Jan. 7 and SEC Specialist of the Week on Feb. 25. She’s added five individual victories on vault for a career total of 23, six on uneven bars for a total of 20, one on balance beam for a total of four, three on floor exercise for a total of 11 and seven all-around wins for a total of 23.
 
Her career highs include scores of 9.975 on vault, 9.950 on bars, 9.925 on beam, 9.950 on floor (four times) and 39.675 all-around.
 
Korth joins Kennedi Edney of LSU, Taylor Houchin of Nebraska, Maddie Karr of Denver, Maggie Nichols of Oklahoma and Kyla Ross of UCLA on the AAI Award ballot. The winner will be announced at the NCAA Championship in April.
