Kentucky Competes in SEC Indoor Championships on Friday & Saturday

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Kentucky will compete at the Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships this weekend at Texas A&M’s Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium.  
 
The meet will be streamed live on SEC Network+ on Friday from 6:10 p.m. to 10:40 p.m. ET and on Saturday from 4:55 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. ET. The meet will then be re-aired on SEC Network on Sunday beginning at 8 p.m. ET. The talent for the broadcast will be Dwight Stones, Dan O’Brien, Jill Montgomery and Larra Overton. 
 
The Wildcats will compete at this College Station venue for the second time this season, having participated in the Ted Nelson Invitational on Jan. 18.

Leaders Entering the SEC Championships
On the men’s side, UK leads the SEC in two events with Joshua Sobota ranked No. 1 in the shot put with a mark of 66-3.25 (20.20m) and Matthew Peare at No. 1 in the pole vault with a mark of 17-9.25 (5.42m). 
 
On the women’s side, Kentucky has the lead in three events as Celera Barnes has the SEC’s top 60-meter dash with a 7.18, while Ellen Ekholm leads the conference in the high jump with an NCAA-best mark of 6-2.75 (1.90m). Additionally, the 4x400m relay team of Megan Moss, Abby Steiner, Dajour Miles and Chloe Abbott leads the NCAA this season with a time of 3:29.74. 
 
Next Up
Wildcats who qualify will travel to the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 13-14 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Athletes who rank in the top-16 nationally in their respective events and declare they want to compete in that event at the NCAA Championships by the end of this weekend will qualify for the National Championship meet.
 
Currently, UK’s women’s team has seven individuals that are in the top-16 nationally in various events while the men’s team has four.
