Team Records and Series Notes 

  • Kentucky has won four in a row and is 20-5 overall.
    • UK is 10-2 in the Southeastern Conference. The Wildcats remain in at least a tie for first place in the SEC, pending the results of LSU and Auburn later today.
  • Ole Miss is 13-12 overall, 4-8 in league play. The Rebels ended a three-game winning streak.
  • UK leads the series 108-13 and has won 11 in a row vs. the Rebels.
    • UK leads 55-2 in Lexington and has won 12 in a row vs. the Rebels in Rupp Arena. The Wildcats have only lost once – in 1998 – to Ole Miss in Rupp Arena.
  • Next up: on Tuesday, Kentucky plays at LSU. Game time is 9 p.m. EST (8 p.m. CST in Baton Rouge) and it will be televised on ESPN.

 
Player Notes   

  • Immanuel Quickley led the Wildcats with 17 points, his 14th consecutive game in double figures. The last UK player to score in double figures in at least 15 straight games was Malik Monk, who did it in 30 consecutive games in 2016-17.

    • He is averaging 17.8 points over the last 14 games.
    • The sophomore made 8 of 10 free throws today, the first game this season he has missed more than one free throw in a game. 
    • Quickley, who was 1 for 9 with three points at halftime, scored 14 point in the second-half comeback and was 3 for 6 from the field.
  • Nick Richards continued to be his solid self, with 16 points and seven rebounds.
    • UK is 19-1 this season when he scores in double figures.
  • Tyrese Maxey had 14 points, five rebounds and three assists.
    • It is his 17th game this season in double figures.
  • EJ Montgomery had a game-high eight rebounds and scored a pair of free throws.
  • Johnny Juzang contributed five points, making one of UK’s only two 3-pointers, plus 2 of 2 at the free-throw line.
    • UK is 8-0 this season when Juzang scores at least four points.

Coach John Calipari 

  • Winning 20 games for the 26th consecutive season, Calipari is now 325-76 at UK.
    • His streak of 26 consecutive 20-win seasons is the longest active streak in the nation.
  • He has a 770-216 all-time on-court record. 
  • UK is 263-43 against unranked foes under Calipari.
  • Kentucky is 146-40 under Calipari in SEC regular-season games.
  • Calipari is 16-4 all-time vs. Ole Miss.

Team Notes 

  • The Wildcats have won at least 20 games in 29 of the last 30 seasons.
  • The game was magnificently contested. Seven points was the largest lead of the game for either team and the lead changed hands nine times in the final five minutes.
    • All totaled, the game had 14 lead changes and nine ties.
  • Kentucky managed to keep the Rebels to 62 points. UK is 183-7 (96.3%) under Calipari when keeping the opponent to 63 points or fewer.
  • The Wildcats limited Ole Miss to 40% from the field.
    • UK is 200-19 (91.3%) under Calipari when keeping the opponent at 40% or less, including 13-3 this season.
  • Kentucky played well around the basket, winning the rebounding 41-33, and points in the paint 32-20.
    • UK is 17-0 this season when claiming the board battle.
  • Entering the game fifth in the nation at 78.9% at the foul line, the Wildcats had another solid performance at 79.2% (19 of 24).
    • UK made 10 of 10 in the final five minutes – two by Quickley, four by Richards, 2 by Quickley and two by Keion Brooks Jr., in that order – scoring 10 of the final 14 points at the foul line.
  • UK won despite shooting 9.1% from 3-point range, 2 of 22. That ties for the fifth-lowest single-game percentage in the Calipari era.
  • Kentucky won its 13th game in a row at Rupp Arena.

In the First Half 

  • The starting lineup consisted of Ashton Hagans, Tyrese Maxey, Immanuel Quickley, EJ Montgomery and Nick Richards for the 11th time this season. UK is 9-2 with the lineup.

    • Keion Brooks Jr. and Nate Sestina were UK’s first substitutes at the 15:54 mark.
  • UK kept Ole Miss scoreless the first five minutes of the game while building a 4-0 lead.
  • Defense ruled the early going as UK led 13-11 at the under-8:00 timeout.
  • Ole Miss took its first lead, 17-16, at the 5:41 mark.
  • The Rebels stretched the lead to five points on two occasions before taking a 27-25 lead into halftime. It is UK’s lowest-scoring half of the season.
    • UK is now 4-3 this season when trailing at halftime, 4-0 in SEC games. The comebacks have been at Georgia, Vanderbilt (twice) and Ole Miss.

 In the Second Half 

  • Kentucky began the second half with the opening lineup.
  • Trailing 37-31, a 7-0 run gave UK a 38-37 lead.
  • Ole Miss immediately responded with an 8-0 run and its 45-38 lead was its largest of the game. 
  • A 7-0 UK run tied it at 47.
  • With UK trailing 54-53 with five minutes remaining, there were nine consecutive lead changes until Richards made both ends of a 1-and-1 with 1:11 remaining, putting UK up 63-62.
  • After Breein Tyree missed a 1-and-1 at 0:57, Ole Miss defense forced a turnover at 29.8 on clock.
  • Ole Miss missed a shot, then fouled Quickley with 6.6 seconds. He made both ends of a 1-and-1 to make it 65-62.
  • Tyree was fouled with 3.9 seconds left but missed the 1-and-1. Brooks rebounded, was fouled with 1.6 seconds left and made both free throws for a 67-62 win. Ironically, it was UK’s largest lead of the game.
