No. 12 Wildcats to Host No. 2 Gators in Monumental Matchup
LEXINGTON, Ky. – After a season-best performance on the road last weekend, No. 12 Kentucky (5-1, 2-0 Southeastern Conference) returns home with an unblemished conference record for a monumental matchup against No. 2 Florida (3-0, 3-0 SEC) on Friday at 7 p.m. ET on SEC Network+.
The Wildcats enter Friday a week removed from a 196.750-196.650 win at then-No. 19 Arkansas behind season-high team scores from both teams. Senior eight-time All-American Mollie Korth took home the meet’s outright all-around title with a sum of 39.625, thanks in part to another outright win on vault behind a career-high-tying 9.950.
Korth also split the victory on bars with a 9.900 and tied with sophomore Josie Angeny for the beam crown off a 9.875 consensus.
Florida’s visit to Lexington comes off a 198.375-197.775 triumph over fellow league powerhouse LSU, the nation’s eighth-ranked unit at the time, last Friday in Gainesville, Florida. Sophomore Trinity Thomas won three event titles and earned the 14th perfect 10.0 in UF history on bars en route to being named SEC Gymnast of the Week.
Kentucky’s lone win over Florida in the all-time head-to-head series came on Jan. 16, 1998 at Memorial Coliseum.
