Jackson and Steiner Post Nation’s Top 200m Times on Friday
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky won three events on the first day of the Rod McCravy Memorial on Friday at Nutter Field House. Those wins included victories in both the men’s and women’s 200-meter races where freshman Langston Jackson (20.72) and sophomore Abby Steiner (23.06) both set the new No. 1 times in the NCAA this season.
Other impressive performances for the Wildcats included Jada Terrell finishing third in the women’s pentathlon on 3,550 points while Tatiana Aholou finished second in the women’s long jump with a mark of 19-10.75 (6.06m).
In the 60m first round heats, Celera Barnes (7.36), Dajour Miles (7.45) and Shadajah Ballard (7.50) punched their tickets to the semifinals on the women’s side while Jackson (6.66) and fellow freshman Lance Lang (6.73) qualified for the semifinals on the men’s side. The semifinals and finals of the men’s and women’s 60m will take place tomorrow.
Faith Ross (8.26), Masai Russell (8.27), Ballard (8.39) and Darci Khan (8.45) advanced to the semifinals of the women’s 60m hurdles which will also take place tomorrow.
The second day of the Rod McCravy Memorial will begin tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. with the women’s high jump.
UK Day One Event Winners
The men’s distance medley relay (DMR) team of Gabriel Szalay, Nathaniel Bann, Max LeClair and Matthew Thomas won the event with a time of 10:01.52. That time is good enough currently for eighth in the NCAA.
Abby Steiner won the women’s 200m with a 23.06 which currently leads the NCAA. Dajour Miles finished second with a time of 23.39 which places her in fourth in the NCAA this season.
Langston Jackson won the men’s 200m with a 20.72 which currently leads the NCAA.
