Kentucky Track & Field Wraps Up Successful Jim Green Invitational

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky had a strong showing over the two days at the Jim Green Invitational, winning 10 events in total.
 
For the second time in two meets, Matthew Peare broke his own school record in the pole vault, while several other student-athletes earned spots as national leaders early on in the season.
 
The Wildcats will now travel to College Station, Texas for the Ted Nelson Invitational on Saturday. 
 
UK Day One Event Winners
Trey Causey III won the men’s high jump with a 7-1.75 (2.18m) mark.
 
Nicole Bagby won the pole vault with a mark of 12-11.50 (3.95m), which was also good enough for third in school history and a personal best for Bagby.
 
The men’s distance medley relay (DMR) team of Matthew Thomas, Jacob Smith, Max LeClair and Trevor Warren won with a time of 9:59.47. The team competed in a relay of the 1200m, 400m, 800m and the 1600m.
 
Charles Lenford Jr. won the men’s weight throw with a 65-3.25 (19.89m). 
 
Celera Barnes won the women’s 200m with a time of 23.61.
 
Langston Jackson won the men’s 200m with a time of 20.84. 
 
UK Day Two Event Winners
Joshua Sobota won the men’s shot put with a 64-1.75 (19.55m) mark. 
 
Matthew Peare set another school record, winning the men’s pole vault with a 17-8.50 (5.40m). 
 
Alexis Holmes won the women’s 400m with a time of 52.71.
 
Faith Ross, Masai Russell, Abby Steiner and Alexis Holmes won the women’s 4x400m relay with a time of 3:37.92.
 
National Leaders
Several Wildcats continue to lead the NCAA with impressive times and marks in both the Jingle Bells Open and the Jim Green Invitational.
