Cesar Bourgois Named to 2019 SEC Community Service Team

LEXINGTON, Ky. – As the Kentucky Wildcats men’s tennis team awaits to take the court this weekend for its final bouts of regular-season competition, junior Cesar Bourgois was named to the 2019 Southeastern Conference Community Service Team on Wednesday.

The honor is one of 21 annually bestowed upon athletes from each league-sponsored sport. The Community Service Team highlights competitors from each school who give back to their community in superior service efforts.

Bourgois has consistently served as an example for his peers, both on and off the court. The junior is the Wildcats’ co-captain, as well as the team’s representative on the UK Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Bourgois helped to grow the game of tennis in the Lexington community by working with the Wildcat Tennis Club, teaching children of all ages how to play. He has visited multiple elementary schools, reading to students at Julius Marks Elementary and passing out lunches at various others. He also volunteered multiple hours at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Bluegrass.

In Kentucky’s 2019 spring slate, Bourgois has recorded nine singles victories and seven doubles wins as half of UK’s top duo. The Cats will commence SEC play with home tilts versus No. 17 Georgia on Friday at 5 p.m. and No. 15 Tennessee on Sunday at 1 p.m.
