LEXINGTON, Ky. – Juniors Wyatt Amdor and Glen Brown were selected to compete in the 2019 NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships, announced by the committee Wednesday. The University of Texas at Austin will host the national meet March 27-30 at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in Austin, Texas.

“Wyatt has had an awesome year and has worked extremely hard,” said head coach Lars Jorgensen. “He has been an incredible leader for the men’s team and I couldn’t be more happy for him. This is a high level of competition and he has done a great job.

“Glen is a really talented swimmer and this is the level of competition that he is capable of competing at. We’re excited for Glen, this is his first NCAA Championships, and he is going to do some great things.”

For the first time since 2016, as many as two UK male swimmers were invited to compete in the national meet. It will mark the first NCAA Championships appearance for both men.

Breaking a school record at the Bulldog Invitational on March 2, Amdor will compete in the 100 breaststroke. The Pennsylvania native reported a 52.43 to earn the top spot in program history, passing former Wildcat George Greenhalgh who noted a 52.51 in 2016 to receive a spot at the national meet as a senior. Amdor is currently the 29th fastest in the event in the nation.

Brown, native of Indiana, will compete in the 200 IM. He already owned the school record in the event to start the year, but reset the standard twice since then. Recording a 1:43.69 at the Bulldog Invitational on March 3, he holds the program record by over one full second. The time stamp is currently the 27th fastest in the nation.

In 2018, the UK men did not place in the NCAA Championships. The year before, the men finished 37th with four points.

UK will look to grow its number of possible scorers at the national meet as three male divers compete in the Zone C Diving Championship March 14-16 with the intention of punching ticket(s) to the NCAA Championships.
