Leah Edmond, Gabby Curry Named SEC Players of the Week
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky Volleyball players Gabby Curry and Leah Edmond were named the Southeastern Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Monday.
For Edmond, it is her fourth week in a row to be named the SEC’s Offensive Player of the Week. She is the only player in the conference to do that this season. Edmond recorded back-to-back double-doubles this week against LSU and Ole Miss, helping the Wildcats clinch their third-straight SEC title. Edmond also recorded a career-high 18 digs in UK’s win against the Tigers on Wednesday night.
For Curry, she was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this season. Curry averaged 4.71 digs per set this week, including 23 digs at LSU in a four-set win over the Tigers in Baton Rouge.
UK will host the 2019 NCAA Lexington Regional on Friday and Saturday at Memorial Coliseum in Lexington beginning at 5 p.m. ET. Tickets are available at ukathletics.com/ncaatickets. Kentucky plays SEMO in the first round at 7:30 p.m. ET on Friday night.
