No. 18 Kentucky Travels to Athens and Auburn for SEC Weekend
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 18 Kentucky Volleyball team will be hitting the road this weekend, as a four-match road swing commences in Athens, Georgia on Friday night at 7 p.m. ET against the Georgia Bulldogs. Kentucky will then make the short trip over to Auburn, Alabama on Sunday afternoon for a 2:30 p.m. ET match against the Tigers on The Plains.
Both matches of the Southeastern Conference weekend will be shown live on the SEC Network+, ESPN3 and the ESPN app. Live stats will also be available through UKathletics.com for both of the matches.
Kentucky currently sits 16-6 overall on the season and 9-2 in the SEC, one game back of the 10-1 Florida Gators in the standings. Friday’s match is a battle of two teams tied for second place, with Georgia having a 9-2 SEC record, as well, and currently owning the tiebreaker over UK thanks to its win over the Wildcats in Lexington back in October. Auburn is 0-10 in SEC play.
Leah Edmond leads all UK players with a 4.12 kills per set number. Sophomore Alli Stumler has been nothing short of sensational as of late, having recorded her fifth double-double of the season on Sunday afternoon in a sweep of Arkansas, collecting 15 kills and a new career-high 20 digs. Gabby Curry continues to lead the stifling defense as UK’s opponents are hitting .149 against the Wildcats this season thanks to Curry’s team-leading 4.40 digs per set.
Junior setter Madison Lilley is averaging 11.30 assists per set this season and is coming off a great match vs. Arkansas where she recorded 43 assists. Lilley leads the SEC with her assist numbers and continues to be one of the best in the country at her position.
UK leads the all-time series with Georgia, 44-26 with the Wildcats having won 20 sets in a row vs. UGA before the Dawgs pulled off the upset in Lexington on Oct. 11. The Wildcats have won nine in a row against Auburn and lead the all-time series with the Tigers, 41-10.
