Kentucky Women’s Soccer Hosts Northern Kentucky on Thursday
LEXINGTON, Ky.- Kentucky (2-0-2) hosts Northern Kentucky (2-2-0) on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at The Bell. The game will be streamed live on SEC Network+ with Dave Baker and Payton Atkins on the call.
“I’m looking forward to us playing Northern Kentucky,” Kentucky head coach Ian Carry said. “Especially when they’re coming here off of a really good win against Murray State. They’ll be a difficult team to go up against. On our side, when you’re on a win-streak, you always want to continue that. We had a really good couple of days of practice, and everyone is in really high spirits. I’m looking forward to our game on Thursday night and watching our team continue to gel and develop.”
The Wildcats enter the contest with the Norse after a 3-0 win against Youngstown State on Sunday afternoon. Goals from Foster Ignoffo, Hannah Richardson and Jordyn Rhodes made the difference for UK as the team earned its second win of the season, staying unbeaten on the year in the process.
Kentucky has scored 10 goals and only conceded five through the first four games of the season. Last year, the Wildcats only scored three or more goals twice and have already done it three times this season. Rhodes, the freshman forward, has set the pace in attack with four goals so far in her young career.
Northern Kentucky enters this matchup coming off of a win against Murray State by a score of 3-1. Senior forward Shawna Zaken leads the Norse in scoring with three goals and one assist through the first four games of the season.
Looking forward, UK will host Miami (OH) on Sunday at 2 p.m. at The Bell. That game also serves as senior day for Kentucky as the Wildcats will honor midfielder Gina Crosetti, forward Foster Ignoffo and undergraduate assistant coach Evangeline Soucie.
