Two Wildcats to Compete at 2019 ISSF World Cup
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky rifle sophomore Will Shaner and freshman Mary Tucker will travel to Rio Je Janeiro, Brazil this week to compete in the 2019 International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup.
Shaner and Tucker each qualified for the ISSF World Cup after impressive performances in the US Shooting 2019 Spring Selection Match.
The ISSF World Cup will be held August 26-September 3 with a multitude of rifle and pistol competitions taking place.
Tucker will compete in the 10m women’s air rifle on Wednesday, August 26. She is slotted for relay two beginning at 11 a.m with the final taking place at 1:30 p.m. on the same day.
Tucker enters her freshman campaign after having a successful high school career. She was the Florida State Junior Olympics Champion in 2017 and competed in the World Cup Fort Benning and CAT Games in 2018.
Shaner takes center stage for the 10m men’s air rifle on Friday, August 28. The qualification relay he will compete in will be announced later this week. The final for the 10m men’s air rifle is at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
Shaner is coming off a freshman season where he was named Great American Rifle Conference Rookie of the Year. Shaner represented the United States this summer at the 2019 World University Games in Naples, Italy. He finished 12th in men’s air rifle and eighth in the mixed team event.
