On maintaining the success from the previous season …
“We are all going hard right now in the weight room, on the field, off the field, in the classroom. Just putting the extra work in and extra effort, going hard in everything we do. I think that’s going to help us.”
On ending the Florida streak …
“After the win at Florida, everybody was excited, but we knew we had a long season ahead of us. We had a tough schedule last year, and I think we have a tough schedule this year. We are going to look at every game one step at a time. Right now, my main focus is Toledo. I haven’t even looked at anything for Florida, but if we were to beat them this year, it would be great.”
On the biggest difference in Terry Wilson…
“Terry’s developing as a true quarterback, not just a running quarterback. We work every day, me and him, just throwing the deep ball. Unfortunately, we couldn’t connect on some of the deep balls last year throughout the whole season. So this year, our main focus as a whole receiving corps and quarterback corps, we just want to focus on connecting the deep ball. Losing Benny [Snell, Jr.]… Benny was a good player. Some of the running backs this year coming up are going to be just as good as him.”
On Assistant Head Coach Eddie Gran …
“Everything is about chemistry, and I think that’s why Coach Gran didn’t leave. He had the chemistry with us. He built the bond and relationship he has with the whole team. That’s my guy. I really respect him for doing that.”
On how comfortable he is on the offense …
“I know the offense like the back of my hand. If they were to call something right now, I know everybody’s position in line, quarterback, running back, and receiver. Just being able to know all that makes my job easier, and I can help everybody else on the field.”
On how people view Kentucky football …
“Everyone just thinks we are either handed a W or take a W. Everything we do is not good enough for anybody around the world. I’m fine with that. I’m not here to please anybody but my teammates and my coaches and our fans. If anybody wants to think about us any different than what they should see us for, then that’s on them. I don’t want to come off being negative, but you have got to come to reality sooner or later. We are a good football team, whether you want to believe it or not.”
Senior Offensive Guard Logan Stenberg
On what it means to come from North Alabama and return to Alabama for SEC Media Days …
“It has been great, it is like a homecoming. Both of my brothers are here and met me in the lobby, so I got to see them for the first time in a while, so that was awesome. It means a lot to where Coach Stoops thinks I am a leader and that I have an influence on the team to where he wanted to bring me down here. I am just thankful for this opportunity.”
On what it means to see kids from his home area getting Division I scholarships …
“I take pride in it. It may be false pride. I doubt I had as much to do with that as I think I did, but I am very prideful to see how well they are doing year to year. The caliber of guys that are coming out of there, everybody is just so good nowadays. So to see that they are really signing Division I scholarships every year is very awesome.”
On what it means to see his name on the Second Team All-American list …
“It is an honor. It’s awesome, but it doesn’t mean everything. We are going to go to work this year. It is only an accolade, and it is preseason, so it doesn’t mean anything at this point. It is really just putting more pressure on me, to be honest with you. So we are going to take that and do great things this year, and hopefully get that accolade at the end of the year when it means something.”
On what it is going to take for Kentucky to keep the success going …
“We are really just building off of last season, and I think it all started with the Florida game. We took a lot of momentum from that and really got guys to buy in and say, ‘We really can. We can do whatever we want. We can win games and compete with anybody out there.’ We’ve really been taking this off season to get bigger, faster, stronger, working on our team chemistry and really our technique and just getting ready for this season so we can win as many games as possible.”
Senior Linebacker Kash Daniel
On being in a Super Bowl commercial …
“It was pretty cool. I’m glad they let me start my acting career with that. It was pretty fun. They came in and had cameras like your all’s. They had this big grip on it, and I asked how expensive is that camera. He said this camera right here made Avengers Endgame, and I said that’s a lot of money right there. So, I knew it was a pretty serious production. We were there for a long time though. We were there for about four or five hours just because of how many takes we got to do. Overall it was fun. The fans enjoyed it, and we got a lot of really good feedback from it. We had that promotional video where I said for people to watch it and video it and tape their reaction. We got a bunch of reactions and it was really fun to see little kids and their parents making out C-A-T-S cats, cats, cats watching the video and screaming hard in the living room. It was pretty fun.”
On what Kentucky players he looked up to as a kid …
“As a kid growing up and watching Kentucky, one guy you thought of is Jacob Tamme. You know a Kentucky boy from Bourbon County, how he conducted himself not only on the field, but off the field as well and how hard he played. So Jacob was always a favorite of mine. Obviously, Randall Cobb or Andre’ Woodson, just because of how infamous those guys were in playmaking. What Randall has been able to do with the Packers and now the Cowboys. It is just unreal what those guys have done. In the games where I was there to actually see them play, no matter what happens I’ll never be able to forget that.
On the new expectation at Kentucky…
“Get to Atlanta. We went 10-3 last year and came up pretty short. We had the biggest game in Kentucky football history in Lexington, got embarrassed. So we have to come back this year with a stronger mindset, stronger mentality that 10-3 is not acceptable. Coming as runner-up in the SEC East is not acceptable. So that’s been our whole goal throughout winter conditioning program, throughout spring ball, throughout summer workouts. Take it up a notch. Not only get to Atlanta, but to win in Atlanta, cause if you get there, you might as well win.”
