Go Big Blue 4 Miler Pres. by Kroger Simple Truth on Aug. 17

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Go Big Blue 4 Miler, presented by Kroger Simple Truth, is back. The popular run/walk beginning and ending at Kroger Field will move to the evening for the first time, taking place Saturday, Aug. 17 at 7:30 p.m.
 
Registration is open now to the general public – both runners and walkers – at UKathletics.com/4miler for $25, plus a $3.25 signup fee. Kentucky football season ticket holders are invited to participate for a special price of $10 plus a $2.75 signup fee, with UK employees and students eligible for the same offer. Those who cannot attend can sign up as virtual runners/walkers for $30 plus a $3.25 signup fee, while children can participate in the Junior Wildcat Club Kids Race – an untimed dash – for $10 with a $2.75 signup fee. Junior Wildcat Club members are eligible to participate in the untimed dash for free. Registration for an untimed 1.35-mile fun run/walk is available for $20 plus a $3.25 signup fee.
 
All participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt and finisher’s medal for participating in the chip-timed race. All participants other than UK students and employees and football season ticket holders will receive a ticket to Kentucky football’s season opener vs. Toledo.
 
Overall top finishers and age group winners of the Go Big Blue 4 Miler will receive prizes. The top men’s finisher and top women’s finisher will each receive $150 Kroger gift cards, while second-place finishers will each receive $100 Kroger gift cards and third-place finishers will receive $50 Kroger gift cards. The top three men’s and women’s finishers as well as age group winners will also receive two complimentary tickets to Kentucky football’s home game vs. Arkansas and two complimentary tickets to a men’s basketball exhibition. 2. Overall and age group winners will receive medals recognizing their finishes as well.
 
Packet pickup for the Go Big Blue 4 Miler will be Friday, Aug. 16th from 3-7 p.m. at the Euclid Kroger (704 Euclid Ave, Lexington, KY 40502). Race packets will be available for pickup in the front entrance near the produce section and Starbucks. There will also be race day packet pickup near Gate 12 at Kroger Field from 6-7:30 p.m. Local runners/walkers are encouraged to pick up on Friday to make for a smooth and pleasant race day experience. You may pick up for family/friends with no identification or credentials required.
 
The Go Big Blue 4 Miler will begin outside Kroger Field, with runners proceeding through the practice fields at the Joe Craft Football Training Facility and Kentucky Proud Park. Participants will then move through the Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex and John Cropp Stadium before going across campus through the Kentucky Outdoor Track and Field Facility. The race will finish at one goal line at Kroger Field.
 
The first two editions of the Go Big 4 Miler took place in last year, with hundreds of runners and walkers participating in both the spring and fall.
 
The Go Big Blue 4 Miler presented by Kroger Simple Truth is an outgrowth of the ongoing comprehensive partnership between UK and Kroger announced last year. Along with the Kroger Community Fields Program, the race is part of the community outreach effort UK and Kroger are making as part of the agreement. Both UK Athletics and Kroger will have active presences at the race.
