Lukas Euler Named to PING All-Southeast Region Team

by Deb Moore

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – After enjoying the most prolific season of his four-year career, senior Lukas Euler continues to earn recognition for his efforts. Euler was named to the PING All-Southeast Region Team for the first time in his career on Saturday.

He is the first UK player to earn distinction on an all-region squad since Cooper Musselman was honored in 2017.

Last week, Euler hauled in All-Southeastern Conference Second Team honors after helping lead the Wildcats to another successful season in 2018-19 where they placed third during stroke play of the SEC Championship and advanced to match play for the first time in the tournament’s format. UK then earned a spot in the NCAA Regional in Athens, Georgia, marking the fourth straight season Brian Craig’s squad has moved on to postseason play.

Euler enjoyed one of the most productive seasons in Craig’s tenure with six top-20 finishes during his senior season as well as participating in two professional events.

The Dieburg, Germany, native registered a career-low 71.74 stroke average. That mark also topped the team for the 2018-19 season. Euler’s biggest achievement during his senior campaign was becoming the low-stroke winner at the Genesis Open Collegiate Showcase in February which allowed him to earn an exemption into the PGA Genesis Open. Euler claimed the spot behind a career-low round of 67. He also advanced to a pro event on the European Tour after earning qualification with a win in a playoff at the Dutch Amateur in August.

He matched that mark twice more during the season, including during the second round of the SEC Championship. Euler’s tie for ninth in that event helped the Wildcats to a third-place showing during stroke play and advanced to match play in the event for the first time in program history. Euler then won both of his head-to-head matchups during match play, the only Wildcat to achieve that standard.

Euler also recorded a round of 67 during the opening day of play at the General Hackler. That paved the way for a runner-up finish in the event as well as a season-low 54-hole total of 206. His runner-up finish in the event matched a career-low finish.

Other top-20 finishes included a tie for 13th at The Grove, a tie for 14th at Shoal Creek and a tie for 19th at the Steelwood Invitational.

Euler posted a team-high 18 par or better rounds and his round counted in more than 90 percent of his rounds played this season towards the team’s total. He concludes his career with 20 top-20 finishes and 55 par or better rounds in more than 115 career rounds played.
