Three Wildcats Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large First Team

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Three University of Kentucky athletes were recognized as 2019 Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large First Team selections, announced by CoSIDA on Friday. Gymnast Alex Hyland and swimmers Bowen Anderson and Asia Seidt were selected to the Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large team.
 
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America honorees will be announced in June.
 
A list of the first-team Academic All-District honoree selections are as follows:
 
Bowen Anderson (men’s S&D): Senior

• 3.98 GPA in biology (pre-med student)
• Combined for 183.5 hours in volunteer experience as a student-athlete
• 2019 SEC Boyd McWhorter Post-Graduate Scholarship Award nominee
• Elected to 2018 UK Athletics’ Frank G. Ham Society of Character
• 2018 Omicron Kappa Delta National Leadership and Honor Society
• Annual recipient of UK Heritage Scholarship
• 2017, 2018, 2019 SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll
• 2016 SEC First-Year Honor Roll
• 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials qualifier

 
Alex Hyland (gymnastics): Senior

• 3.94 GPA in kinesiology
• Two-time 2019 second-team WCGA All-America (beam, all-around)
• 2019 second-team WCGA Regular Season All-America (all-around)
• 2019 All-SEC (beam)
• 2019 SEC Co-Scholar Athlete of the Year
• Finished 2019 regular season as nation’s No. 16 all-around performer

 
Asia Seidt (women’s S&D): Junior

• 4.0 GPA in kinesiology
• 16-time NCAA All-America, including eight First Team All-America honors (leads the program, male or female)
• 2019 NCAA Elite 90 recipient
• 2019 SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year
• 2017-18, 2018-19 USA Swimming National Team
• 2018, 2019 USA World University Games Team
• 2017, 2018, 2019 All-SEC First Team
• 2017, 2018, 2019 SEC Champion in 200 Backstroke
• 2018 SEC Champion in 100 Backstroke
• 2018, 2019 SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll
• 2018 CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team

The 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men’s and Women’s At-Large Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes outstanding student-athletes in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
