Marshall Gei Named to CoSida Academic All-District Team
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky senior Marshall Gei has been named to the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District Team, it was announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Gei now will be eligible to make the Academic All-America teams that are announced next month.
The honor recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Gei, a fifth-year catcher from Mount Juliet, Tennessee, maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average during his undergraduate career, earning a degree in medical physics. He currently is working toward his graduate degree in medical physics with an emphasis on radiation science. As part of his curriculum he spends time at the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center working with patients.
A former bullpen catcher, Gei has worked his way into playing time and has appeared in 30 games this season with 25 starts behind the plate. He also has been honored as the UK Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year and an inductee into the prestigious Frank G. Ham Society of Character. He’s a four-time Southeastern Conference Honor Roll member and two-time recipient of the Arthur Ashe academic honors.
